Promote printing culture and travel freely to the tea town of mountains and rivers. From 19th to 21th April , teachers and international students of BIGC attended the 30th Hubei Yingshan Tea Culture Tourism Festival and the first Bi Sheng Culture Forum. This event was held in Yingshan County, Hubei Province, the hometown of Bi Sheng. The first Bi Sheng Cultural Forum was hosted by BIGC and Wuhan University. Ms. Xing Ruixue and Ms. Wu Xiaofang as well as international students Gabriela Abigail and Rakhimova Fariza, were invited to participate in the forum.
On the morning of 20th April, the 30th Hubei Yingshan Tea Culture Tourism Festival and the first Bi Sheng Culture Forum opened in the Bi Sheng Memorial Park. The faculty and students of the School watched literary and artistic performances together, including "Ode to Bi Sheng", dance "Soul of Chinese Characters", Huangmei Opera song "Beautiful Mountains and Waters", "Stir Fried Tea to Wugeng", and song "Home in Yingshan". The performance integrates the most distinctive printing culture and tea culture of Yingshan County, and international students are deeply attracted by this unique local performance form. After the performance, faculty and students visited the Bi Sheng Memorial Hall and had a close encounter with movable type printing to understand the entire process of Bi Sheng's invention of movable type printing and his outstanding contributions to the world.
Faculty and students also watched the Huangmei Opera "Bi Sheng with movable characters" with attending representatives. Both international students expressed that coming to Bi Sheng's hometown and having a cross time conversation with him was a magical and unforgettable experience. At Yingshan, they tasted the refreshing Yingshan Cloud and Mist Tea, experienced the long history of movable type printing. They expressed that they will spread the beautiful impression of Yingshan and the exciting story of Bi Sheng, and invite more international friends to learn about China.
