To further advance the development of a safe campus, strengthen the campus anti-drug safety barrier, and enhance the legal awareness and safety literacy of both Chinese and international students, the school held an anti-drug education session and legal training activity for international students themed “Unraveling the Trap of Drug Addiction and Building a Strong Youth Defense Line” on the afternoon of March 25 in the lecture hall of the Comprehensive Building. The lecture featured Song Yukun, a teacher from the Office of the Leading Group for the Youth Red Ribbon Association of Capital Universities, as the keynote speaker. Student representatives from various secondary schools and all international students from the School of International Education attended the event.

School Holds Anti-Drug Education Session and Legal Training for International Students
During the lecture, Song Yukun used real cases as warnings and the rule of law as the guiding framework. Focusing on the types of drugs, mechanisms of addiction, serious harms, and disguised forms of drugs, he provided a detailed interpretation of relevant anti-drug laws and regulations in light of typical drug-related cases at universities in recent years. He placed particular emphasis on identifying newly disguised drugs such as “milk tea powder” and “e-cigarettes,” and profoundly revealed the devastating harm drugs can cause to personal physical and mental health, family happiness and peace, and social harmony and stability. The lecture guided Chinese and international students to firmly establish the belief of cherishing life and staying away from drugs, while helping them master practical methods of drug prevention and refusal, such as “refusing the first try” and “seeking help promptly,” thereby effectively improving their awareness and ability to identify, prevent, and reject drugs.
To further consolidate the effectiveness of anti-drug knowledge learning, an interactive quiz session was held on site. The host asked questions based on the key points of the lecture, and students actively raised their hands and responded enthusiastically. Through interaction and exchange, their understanding of anti-drug knowledge was deepened, and their initiative and enthusiasm for participating in anti-drug publicity were fully mobilized. After the interactive session, the event moved into a solemn anti-drug oath-taking ceremony. Representatives of Chinese and international students jointly led the oath. All students stood solemnly and raised their right fists, making a firm pledge to “cherish life and stay away from drugs.” They promised to resist drug-related harm through concrete actions, safeguard their youth and health, actively participate in anti-drug publicity, and strive to become youthful ambassadors in the fight against drugs.
At the end of the activity, Wang Xin, Dean of the School of International Education, conducted a special training session on laws and regulations for international students. Focusing on the core needs of international students in their study and daily life in China, she provided a systematic and detailed explanation of key topics, including relevant Chinese laws and regulations, visa and residence requirements, school rules and regulations, and safety precautions. Drawing on practical cases from the daily management of international students, she guided them to consciously abide by Chinese laws and school regulations, strengthen their awareness of the rule of law and safety precautions, and clarify the boundaries of their conduct, laying a solid foundation for safe study and healthy living in China.
This special lecture was both an important measure for the school to deepen safe campus development and promote anti-drug publicity and education, and a concrete practice in strengthening legal education for international students and building a channel for cross-cultural legal exchange. By popularizing anti-drug knowledge and foreign-related legal knowledge, the activity enhanced Chinese and international students’ anti-drug awareness, legal awareness, and self-protection ability. Moving forward, the school will continue to promote the normalization and institutionalization of anti-drug publicity and education as well as foreign-related legal education, innovate educational forms, enrich educational content, continuously strengthen the campus anti-drug safety defense line, protect every BIGC student from drug-related harm, and support students as they grow toward the light and pursue their dreams.
