Teachers and Students from the School of International Education Visit Qingyuan Subdistrict Spring Festival Folk Custom Market to Celebrate a Cultural Spring Festival Gathering

2026-02-09

On the morning of February 9, the School of International Education organized more than 20 teachers and students from over ten countries to visit Kangzhuang Park in Daxing District and attend the “Qingyuan Good Market” Spring Festival Folk Custom Fair hosted by the Qingyuan Subdistrict Office. At this authentic Spring Festival folk culture event, international students immersed themselves in the unique charm of the Chinese New Year.

The market was festively decorated with colorful lanterns, creating a strong festive atmosphere. Upon entering the interactive experience area, students were deeply attracted by intangible cultural heritage skills such as sugar painting, sugar blowing, and dough sculpting. They watched as golden melted syrup was skillfully crafted by artisans into vivid zodiac horse paintings or delicate sugar figures in an instant. Many students tasting sugar-coated haws and cotton candy for the first time marveled at their sweet and delicious flavors.

The dynamic performance area was even more bustling with loud gongs and drums, elevating the festive atmosphere to a climax. The majestic dragon and lion dances, as well as the thrilling Chinese Banner (Zhongfan) show, were spectacular. The humorous “Land Boat” (Paohanchuan) folk performance was full of fun and drew waves of laughter. Deeply impressed by these vibrant and festive folk arts, international students took out their phones one after another to capture the wonderful moments.

This activity has built a bridge for international students to experience Chinese Spring Festival customs and understand intangible cultural heritage. It serves as an important practice for the School to promote culture-oriented education and enhance mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations. Helping international students understand the essence of Chinese Spring Festival traditions provides them with the most vivid way to perceive a real, multi-dimensional and comprehensive China.

In the future, the School of International Education will continue to develop a variety of social practices and cultural experience activities, supporting every international student to become a deep experiencer, sincere understander and friendly communicator of Chinese culture.
